author’s note: ASP stands for Application Service Provider. A common example is web based email like Yahoo, but you can also do word processing, spreadsheets even edit videos at websites out there. They take care of everything, you just need an internet connection.
While digging around the Internet I found myself at www.churchvideoideas.com. Being a producer whannabee, naturally, I checked out his site.
But once there, I suddenly got interested in something else (imagine that). For you see, there I found an article about “YouVersion,” and that really piqued my curiosity. Some sort of a YouTube for the Bible, I wondered? No, not at all! It is the coolest online Bible study tool I have seen in a long while.
In short, check it out! www.youversion.com.
It is “owned and operated” by a couple of guys from www.LifeChurch.tv. I first heard about LifeChurch while serving at the Willow Creek Leadership Summit in 2006. Their lead pastor spoke during the summit. He was awesome! His passion to leverage all that God has given him was contagious! His church is well known for leveraging the Internet in reaching communities.
Can I shamelessly twist your arm to give YouVersion a try? It is a great way to do on line Bible study, share some or all of your stuff with others, and learn from others.
Right now, it’s in Beta (that is to say, they are still experimenting, and expanding the features). They have several versions of the Bible that you can choose from while studying, with many more to come.
But the best part, I think, is the journal. You can put in personal notes right on the site. You can even share insights if you like.
Check it out!
