Goodnight Peanut: the visual story of a good dog, a good friend

Recently a group of us received an email from a friend titled “Goodnight Peanut.” His dog Peanut had just passed away and he was letting us know.
In his family, Peanut was always there. He was there for my friend and his wife during their early “pre-children” days: you could say that he was their parenting experiment (that’s what I think, anyway). He was there when each of my friend’s children were born. He was there to greet Brownie, their second dog. He was there for a lot of things, especially the holiday pictures! I’m told that he had a calming effect on the whole family. Apparently he had this knack for showing up and just being there–and making things feel better.
It’s amazing how our lives can be touched and blessed by a pet. I think that good pets are a hold over from the way things originally were between us and animals, before the Fall that is. I think that in God’s original plan we were always supposed to get along with animals, taking care of them and them in effect taking care of us (This is not an original idea to me. I owe it to C. S. Lewis).
In his email, my friend gave us a link to a video of Peanut’s life, made from various home movie clips and brought together as a tribute to his beloved dog.
I was so touched by the video that I asked for a permanent link to it. Here is the link: http://home.comcast.net/~peomalle3/GoodnightPeanut.wmv
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
